Real-Time Kinematic, or more commonly known as RTK, is a code-based positioning system that provides accurate enhanced positional data of satellite-based positioning systems down to the very centimetre. Unlike most Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) or Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers found in smart devices or robotic platforms that determine a position within a four-metre radius, RTK offers far more meticulous and accurate location calculation with up to one-centimetre real-time accuracy. Because RTK eliminates common errors that are found in GNSS, it has become the most sought-after positioning technology for applications such as cadastral surveying, construction activities, drone navigations, and agriculture.
